  IMPLEMENTATION OF DIGITAL AUTOMATIC TERMINAL INFORMATION SERVICE (D-ATIS)
LIVE OPERATIONAL TRIAL AT SELECTED AIRPORTS

1  INTRODUCTION

1.1  This AIRAC AIP Supplement is issued to inform all aerodrome users, operators, and air traffic service personnel of the planned upgrading of the Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) system at selected airports in Malaysia to a modern Digital Automatic Terminal Information Service (D-ATIS) for a period of three (3) months.

1.2  The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the operational performance, reliability, and user acceptance of D-ATIS services in support of future implementation within the Malaysian Air Traffic Management environment.

1.3  The information contained herein should be read in conjunction with the current AD 2.18 Air Traffic Services Communication facilities at the respective location and any related NOTAMs published.

2  TRIAL PERIOD

2.1  The live operational trial will commence on 10th September 2026 0000 UTC until 30th November 2026 2359 UTC, unless otherwise notified.

3  AIRPORTS INVOLVED

3.1  The D-ATIS live operational trial will be conducted at the following aerodromes:

4  OPERATIONAL INFORMATION

4.1  During the trial period, D-ATIS messages will be made available through approved digital communication platforms in parallel with the existing conventional ATIS voice broadcast service.

4.2  Flight crew and aircraft operators participating in the trial may access D-ATIS information through compatible avionics systems and/or authorized communication service providers.

4.3  The conventional voice ATIS service shall remain the primary and official source of ATIS information during the trial period.

4.4  Any discrepancy between D-ATIS and voice ATIS information shall be resolved by referring to the voice ATIS broadcast and/or direct communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC).

5  PARTICIPATION

5.1  Aircraft operators and relevant stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the operational evaluation and provide feedback to CAAM throughout the trial period.

7.1  This AIRAC AIP Supplement will remain in force until 30th November 2026. Any updates, changes or cancellation to this supplement will be notified through NOTAM.
