  MALAYSIA’S NATIONAL DAY FLYPAST 2026

1  INTRODUCTION

1.1  Malaysia’s National Day Flypast 2026 will take place in the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area (TMA) from 25th to 31st August 2026, as follows:

  1. Rehearsal dates: 25th – 29th August 2026; and

  2. Actual Day: 31st August 2026.

1.2  This AIRAC AIP Supplement is issued to inform airspace users of temporary changes to control airspace and air traffic management in Kuala Lumpur TMA from 252330 UTC to 310300 UTC August 2026, to accommodate the event.

1.3  The purpose of these changes is to ensure the safe, orderly and efficient flow of air traffic before, during and after the flypast, considering the increased traffic and special handling required for this event.

2  AIRSPACE CLOSURE

2.1  The Merdeka Day Flypast 2026 will include helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft operations in the areas depicted in Appendix A.

2.2  Helicopter Operation Areas.

2.2.1  The helicopter operations will take place as follows:

2.2.2  The helicopter operations will not affect Kuala Lumpur International Airport (WMKK) operations, thus WMKK operations may proceed as usual.

2.3  Fixed-wing Operation Areas.

2.3.1  The fixed-wing operations will take place as follows:

2.3.2  WMKK operations will be suspended during the period specified in paragraph 2.3.1 above.

3  AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

3.1  In order to avoid potential delays, airlines/aircraft operators should arrange flights to arrive or depart from WMKK well before or after the airspace closure.

3.2  Airlines/aircraft operators should plan for possible airborne delays when arriving at WMKK after the airspace closure and ensure they have enough fuel in case holding is required.

3.3  Subang/Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (WMSA) will remain open during the activity periods, however, airlines/aircraft operators should expect delays.

3.4  The VFR Route 1A (segment between Port Klang and Tanjung Tuan) and VFR Route 2A (segment between Sungai Besi and Seremban) will be temporarily suspended as per table below:

4  AIRCRAFT SLOTS FOR OPERATIONS AT WMKK

4.1  National Slot Coordination Malaysia (NSCM) shall be the coordinating authority for aircraft slots at WMKK. All airlines/aircraft operators shall submit their revised slots to NSCM as soon as possible.

5  CONCLUSIONS

5.1  Adherence to these procedures is essential for safety reasons.

5.2  This AIRAC AIP Supplement will remain in force until 31st August 2026. Any updates, changes or cancellation to this supplement will be notified through NOTAM.
