AIP Supplement for Malaysia

Effective Date: 22 JAN 2026

Publication Date: 11 DEC 2025

  LIMBANG AIRPORT (WBGJ)
PROPOSED LIMBANG AIRPORT RUNWAY EXTENSION
CHANGES TO RUNWAY DECLARED DISTANCES

1  INTRODUCTION

1.1  The airside improvement program at Limbang Airport includes the extension of the runway. The increase in the runway length would enable the airport to safely and efficiently accommodate a wider range of aircraft than the usual ATR-72 and DHC-6 that commonly use the airport.

2  PURPOSE

2.1  This AIRAC AIP Supplement informs the aviation industry about the changes to the declared distances of the runway at Limbang Airport, and changes to other infrastructure and facilities associated with the runway, at the different stages of the runway extension works.

3  CHANGES TO DECLARED DISTANCES AND RUNWAY ASSOCIATED FACILITIES

3.1  The extension of the runway starts from the end of Runway 04 to a distance of 290 metres northwards. Works will be conducted in two stages to minimise the impact of construction on aircraft operations.

  1. STAGE 1 [From 14th September 2025 to 24th December 2026 EST]

3.2  Construction works are restricted to an area starting after the RESA for Runway 04, and beyond. The runway, stopway, runway strips and RESA for Runway 04 remain unaffected by the works during Stage 1.

3.3  The runway declared distances during Stage 1 are:

RWYDesignatorTORA (m)TODA (m)ASDA (m)LDA (m)Remarks
041500150015601500RESA 90 m x 60 m
221500156015601500RESA 90 m x 60 m

3.4  Clearway for Runway 04 is withdrawn.

3.5  Simple Approach Lighting for Runway 22 is withdrawn. PAPI for Runway 22 is available.

3.6  Refer to appendices below for additional information.

APPENDIX A: Aerodrome/Heliport Chart-ICAO Stage 1

APPENDIX B: Aerodrome Ground Movement Chart-ICAO Stage 1

  1. STAGE 2 [From 15th November 2025 to 24th December 2026 EST]

3.7  Construction works will extend towards the runway, affecting the runway strips and RESA for Runway 04 during Stage 2.

3.8  The operational lengths of the runway are reduced to ensure the runway strips and RESA for Runway 04 are available for the shortened runway, and to retain the obstacle control surface for the Take-Off Climb Surface for Runway 04 and the Approach Surface for Runway 22.

3.9  Threshold for Runway 22 is displaced by 120 metres. Runway 04 is shortened by 120 metres. Stopway and Clearway for Runway 04 is withdrawn.

3.10  The runway declared distances during Stage 2 are:

RWYDesignatorTORA (m)TODA (m)ASDA (m)LDA (m)Remarks
041380138013801380RESA 90 m x 60 m
221380144014401380RESA 90 m x 60 m

3.11  Simple Approach Lighting for Runway 22 is withdrawn. PAPI for Runway 22 is withdrawn.

3.12  Refer to appendices below for additional information.

APPENDIX C: Aerodrome/Heliport Chart-ICAO Stage 2

APPENDIX D: Aerodrome Ground Movement Chart-ICAO Stage 2

4  TEMPORARY MARKINGS AND LIGHTINGS

4.1  Visual aids that are of a temporary nature will be provided to ensure essential visual guidance is made available for the shortened runway during Stage 2.

4.2  The displaced threshold for Runway 22 is marked with a 1.8 metres wide transverse stripe. Runway designation marking is placed after the transverse stripe. The aiming point marking is at 300 metres from the transverse stripe. A series of yellow chevron markings is provided at the paved area preceding the displaced threshold. Touchdown zone markings and markings before the displaced threshold are obscured.

4.3  Wing bar lights are installed to show the displaced threshold for Runway 22, and end lights are provided to indicate the shortened end of Runway 04.

5  SUSPENDED INSTRUMENT FLIGHT PROCEDURES

5.1  The following instrument flight procedures are suspended during Stage 2 due to the displaced threshold for Runway 22:

6  DECLARED DISTANCES AFTER COMPLETION OF WORKS

6.1  The runway at Limbang Airport is extended by 290 metres following the completion of the works.

6.2  The runway declared distances are:
