1.1  This AIP Supplement is issued to inform airspace users of the trial implementation of the Data Link Automatic Terminal Information Service (D-ATIS) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (WMKK).

1.2  D-ATIS is an automated system that provides terminal information to aircraft via data link, in addition to conventional Voice ATIS broadcasts. The service is provided through the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), allowing flight crews to receive digital messages containing the same operational and meteorological information as Voice ATIS.

1.3  The trial implementation aims to assess the operational effectiveness of D-ATIS in enhancing the efficiency of aerodrome information dissemination, reducing VHF frequency congestion, and improving access to timely and accurate aeronautical and meteorological information.

1.4  Existing Voice ATIS frequencies will continue to operate without change. D-ATIS will supplement the existing Voice ATIS service during the trial period

2.1  Aircraft participating in the trial must be equipped with ACARS and compliant with EUROCAE ED-85A and AEEC 623 standards to access D-ATIS.

2.2  For aircraft not equipped with ACARS, the existing Voice ATIS will continue to operate as the primary source of terminal information.

3.1  The ground system logon ID for D-ATIS at Kuala Lumpur International Airport is WMKK.

3.2  D-ATIS will be available H24 throughout the trial period.

3.3  The D-ATIS broadcast will provide Local Routine Reports in accordance with Civil Aviation Directives (CAD) 3 and CAD 11, replacing the previous METAR broadcast during the trial. The information will include operational data required by ICAO Annex 11 and Doc 10037.

3.4  The trial period will be monitored by CAAM to evaluate performance, reliability, and user feedback.

5.1  In the event that D-ATIS becomes unavailable, Voice ATIS will continue to serve as the primary source of terminal information.

7.1  This AIRAC AIP Supplement will remain in force until 13th May 2026. Any updates, changes or cancellations to this AIRAC AIP Supplement will be notified through NOTAM.
