  KOTA KINABALU FLIGHT INFORMATION REGION
NEW MUKAH AIRPORT
PROPOSED NEW MUKAH AIRPORT FOR CODE 3C AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS,
MUKAH, SARAWAK

1  PURPOSE

1.1 This Aeronautical Information Circular serves as notice regarding the works for the construction of New Mukah Airport for Code 3C aircraft operations at approximately 7km South of Mukah town, Mukah, Sarawak.
1.2 The construction is for Thirty Six (36) Months from August 2017 and is expected to complete by August 2020, of which this new airport will replace the old airport.
1.3 This AIC will be followed by a new AIP Supplement that will provide details of the new airport with operational details.

2  SCOPE OF WORKS

2.1 The scope of works for the construction of the New Mukah Airport include:-
  1. Earthworks and Soil Treatment works for the New Mukah Airport site;

  2. New Runway for Code 3C aircraft Operation (ie. The ATR72 or smaller aircraft) comprising of 1,500m Long x 30m Wide including its associated facilities like the AGL, PAPI, WDI and Simple Approach Lighting System at both ends of the runway;

  3. New Exit Taxiway for Code 3C aircraft Operations 15m wide with 5m shoulder either sides;

  4. New Aircraft Stands for up to 2 ATR 72 (or similar) Power-In/Power-out operations;

  5. New Heli-stands for General Aviation operations;

  6. New Terminal Building of 3,000m2 Gross Floor Area;

  7. New Control Tower and Operations Building;

  8. New Airport Fire and Rescue Station for Category 5;

  9. New Meteorological Station and Equipment Farm;

  10. Other Associated Buildings;

  11. New Navigational Aid System comprising of a DVOR;

  12. New Communication Aids System.

3  PHASINGS AND WORK PROGRAMME

3.1 The above works are to be carried out in phases as follows:-
  1. Phase 1 – Construction of Soil Treatment works and Earthworks.

  2. Phase 2 – Construction of Airfield Pavement, All associated facilities, Civil Infrastructure Works, Buildings and all remaining works for the Airport.
