  REVISED VFR ROUTES SYSTEM WITHIN KUALA LUMPUR TMA

1  Introduction

1.1  The purpose of this AIP Supplements is to inform the aviation industry that some changes on the VFR routes system within Kuala Lumpur TMA will be implemented. This includes the followings;

1.1.1  Rename of VFR routes within KL TMA and introduction of a new VFR routes at the southern part of KL TMA.

1.1.2  Introduction of extension leg to existing VFR routes 2A towards the northern part of Kuala Lumpur TMA.

1.1.3  To improve the VFR reporting positions, some of new VFR position reports are introduced, with most reporting points are now based on prominent landmarks over town or city area.

1.1.4  New procedures within Coastal VFR routes 1A

2  Route Description

2.1  VFR Route 1A

Coastal Route

Sungai Besar - 2000FT – Kuala Selangor – 1500FT – Track west of coastal road – Port Klang – 1500FT – Morib – 1000FT – Track coastal over water – Tanjung Sepat – 1000FT – Track over water (CAUTION; route over water) – Tanjung Tuan – 1000FT.

Hours of operation: HJ

2.2  VFR Route 2A

Inland Route

Slim River – 2000FT – Tanjung Malim – 2000FT – Rawang – 1500FT – Batu Caves – 1500FT – Sungai Besi – 1500FT – Kajang – 1500FT – Seremban – 2000FT.

Airspace classification: C

Hours of operation: HJ

2.3  VFR Route 3A

Inland route (that provides access across the central mountain range and connected to VFR Route 2A)

Bentong -3000FT – Track via highway – Batu Caves – 1500FT

Airspace classification: C

2.4  VFR Route 4A

Inland route (connected to VFR Route 2A)

Kuala Kelawang – 3000FT – Kajang – 1500FT

Airspace classification: C

2.5  VFR Route 5A

Inland route (connected to VFR Route 2A and VFR Route 1A)

Seremban – 1000FT – Rantau – 1000FT – Tanjung Tuan – 1000FT

Airspace classification: C

3  Procedures on VFR Route 1A

3.1  Aircraft flying over water on VFR Route 1A between Tanjung Sepat and Tanjung Tuan and vice versa (approximately 46NM) are to comply with statutory requirement including ICAO Annex 6 - Part II, MCAR 2016 or any subsidiary legislation that outlined guidelines for over-water flying. These conditions are additional to the requirements for flight over land.

3.2  Pilot may request for alternate routes in real-time coordination and is subject to ATC approval based on prevailing traffic eg: traffic transiting through approach and departure funnel for Runway 3 KLIA. Pilot may expect to hold over an area before approval is obtained.

3.3  ATC clearance or instruction does not relieve the pilot from complying with statutory requirement nor from the responsibility for the ultimate safety of the aircraft.
